Thank you for your interest in the NSS January Workshop 2020.

We encourage you to re-read the full text of the January Workshop 2020 program, taking a moment now to make sure this is the right workshop for you.

To apply, fill in the application below and press “Submit Application” button. Your application will not go through if you do not click the “Submit Application” button! (Please make sure you have a copy of everything you write on your application, in case anything goes wrong.)

Then, make the $195 Deposit by clicking on one of the “Pay Deposit” options.

Your application is not reviewed by Nancy until your deposit and 2 references are submitted.
Applications will be reviewed by Nancy and acceptance will be confirmed by email.
(Deposit is non-refundable if you are accepted or if you drop out. If your application is not accepted or if you do not get in from the wait list, your deposit will be refunded minus a $50-75 service fee, depending on the amount of time spent with your application.)

Early Registration & Discount Date: September 8, 2019 (after September 8, add $50 to fee)

After paying deposit, the remaining balance is due by: December 1, 2019

  • Describe your previous experience and skill level with Contact Improvisation, dance, performance, and improvisation. Please be specific about the CI teachers you’ve worked with, # of years of practice, and situations (college class, workshop, festival, jam) and the duration of the classes/workshops.

  • What areas are your strengths in CI? What areas challenge you the most? What overall level of contact improvisor do you consider yourself to be? (beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  • The course will be taught in English. Fluency in English is required. (Verbal exchange is an important aspect of the workshop.) Please indicate your English level

    Two references

    At least one of your references should be fluent in Contact Improvisation. References should know you and your experience level in Contact Improvisation, dance, and other improvisational dance work. Please ask your references to write about who they are and about you: your CI, dance, performance, and improvisation experience; and your participation in groups (e.g., self-responsibility, sensitivity to others, generosity, cooperation in the groups, etc.). Please make sure the information is specific and is from recent interaction. (Also, please note that you cannot use Nancy or Mike as a reference no matter how well they know you!)

    Please drive, if possible. We will need vehicles for carpooling to town workshop sites, so please bring your car if you can. Thank you!
